Celebrity couple seeks child custody solutions

On Behalf of | Oct 6, 2023 | Child Custody |

For all couples facing divorce, regardless of their wealth or fame, one of the primary concerns is regarding what will happen to the children. Texas parents naturally want what is best for their kids, and this applies to celebrity couples as well. Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have recently announced their divorce, and they also plan to go through divorce mediation for a few days in order to reach an agreement on child custody and visitation arrangements for their daughters.

Trying to resolve issues out of court

Mediation offers couples the opportunity to work through certain issues without the need to go to court. They will have an environment in which they can discuss matters in a cooperative manner, hopefully resulting in a resolution that is satisfactory to both parties. It can be less stressful than litigation and result in an outcome that is uniquely suited to both parties.

The celebrity couple is scheduled to go to trial in January, but they hope to work out custody matters as soon as possible. The mediation comes after Ms. Turner alleges that Mr. Jones was holding her passport and documentation for the kids in order to prevent them from going to England. The court where the divorce papers were filed has ruled that neither parent can relocate the children at this time.

Reasonable solutions for complicated matters

Child custody is one of the most complex issues a Texas couple will have to resolve in a divorce. Mediation offers a way to reach a resolution that is fair and sustainable. When mediation is not possible, a parent has the right to seek his or her desired outcome in court.
