Military mother’s ex sought for child custody interference

On Behalf of | Jan 25, 2016 | Child Custody |

A Texas military mother who was serving our country abroad rushed home to search for her missing 3-year-old daughter. The woman’s former husband apparently had temporary child custody of the little girl during the time her mother was in another country. It is reported that the mother and child have not seen each other for two years.

Although the man sent the mother pictures of the baby for a while during her time overseas, that stopped, and all communication ended. The concerned mother eventually got permission to return home to resolve the issue. She says it took a while to get the legalities and paperwork in place before a warrant for his arrest could be obtained. The child’s father is reportedly experiencing a gender crisis, and not knowing whether he is presenting himself as a man or a woman makes the search more difficult.

Authorities believed the man’s family members were helping him, but efforts to make contact with them were unsuccessful. It was later reported that the child was located in Alabama at the home of her maternal grandmother from whom the child’s mother is estranged. However, the father is still at large, and the San Augustine Sheriff’s Office said he and any individuals who aided him will be held accountable.

For any Texas parent who is dealing with child custody interference — or suspects that there is a possibility of such interference — there are steps that can be taken. At such a stressful time, the support and guidance of an experienced family law attorney can help a client to obtain a restraining or protective order to prevent interference. If a child has been taken by a noncustodial parent or other person, a lawyer can assist in getting the paperwork and other legalities out of the way in order to initiate a search for the child.
